The Department of Computer Science maintains and administers a sub-network of specialized computing facilities within the Allegheny College computer network. These facilities serve a vital role in the educational and professional development of the department's students, faculty, and staff. These individuals may use these facilities provided their actions adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Allegheny College Computing Policies (http://www.allegheny.edu/resources/computing/computingpolicies.php) and the Allegheny College Department of Computer Science Computer Usage Policies (http://cs.allegheny.edu/ComputerScienceUsagePolicies.html).

Alden Hall Computer Laboratory Usage Policies
- All computer science students and department faculty will be given Computer Science network accounts, after completing the attached information sheet and signing the Allegheny College Department of Computer Science honor and integrity pledge http://http:/cs.allegheny.edu/CSInHPledge.html.
- Those individuals with Computer Science network accounts are permitted to use the Department's Alden Hall Computing Facilities.
- Guests are permitted in the Laboratories, and can request Computer Science network accounts by contacting the Department's Systems Administrator.
- The Alden Computer Science Laboratories are to be used for educational purposes only. Any questionable conduct or suspicious behavior will result in the immediate suspension of privileges and be sent for review to Allegheny College Judicial Board. Questionable or suspicious activities include, but are not limited to:
- Use of computing facilities to send harassing or abusive messages.
- Use of computing facilities to interfere with the work of other community members.
- Unauthorized access to systems, files, or accounts.
- Use of computing facilities to interfere with normal operation or compromise the security of the Department's, College's, or any other computer system.
- Anonymous or forged network news articles or E-mail messages.
- Unauthorized transfer or manipulation of files.
- In an effort to maintain the integrity of system resources and account data, the Department’s Systems Administrator may conduct security audits. Security audits will only be conducted with approval from the Department faculty and Allegheny College Network Administrator.
- Student accounts will be initially granted 500 MB of disk space. Data saved to these network accounts will be permanently backed up on a regular basis. Students can request additional disk space by contacting the Department Systems Administrator.
- The hours of operation for the Alden Hall Computer Laboratories will be posted within each laboratory, outside the office of the Department Secretary, and online at http://cs.allegheny.edu/labs/hoursOfOperation. Students in need of additional access to the laboratories should contact the Department Systems Administrator.
- Students are welcome and encouraged to contact the Department Systems Administrator for assistance with any systems related issues.
